Dalit Man Assaulted and Humiliated by Employer in Gujarat; FIR Filed

A case has been registered against a businesswoman and at least six others for allegedly assaulting and humiliating a Dalit man.

Morbi: In a shocking incident in Morbi city of Gujarat, a case has been registered against a businesswoman, Vibhuti Patel, and at least six others for allegedly assaulting and humiliating a 21-year-old Dalit man, Nilesh Dalsaniya, who worked in her company. The incident occurred on Wednesday, leading Dalsaniya to file a complaint with the Morbi city police.

Dalsaniya had worked for Patel’s company for a fortnight, after which he was abruptly sacked on October 18. When he sought his salary for the 16 days he had worked, Patel avoided the issue and stopped responding to his calls.

On Wednesday evening, when Dalsaniya, accompanied by his brother and neighbor, visited Patel’s office, they were attacked by Patel’s brother, Om Patel, and several others.

The assailants beat Dalsaniya, dragged him to the terrace, and forced him to hold Patel’s footwear in his mouth, all while shooting a video of the humiliating act. Patel allegedly threatened Dalsaniya with harm if he returned to the area and coerced him to apologize for demanding his salary. The victim was later taken to Morbi civil hospital for treatment.

An FIR has been registered against Vibhuti Patel, her brother Om Patel, manager Parikshit, and other unidentified individuals. The charges include assault, criminal intimidation, rioting, and violations of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The police are investigating the case, and no arrests have been made so far.
