Bihar CM Nitish Kumar announced an ex-gratia of Rs 4 Lakh each to families of the people who died in the derailment of 21 coaches

Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced an ex-gratia of Rs 4 Lakh each to families of the people who died in the derailment of 23 coaches of the North East Express train in Buxar last night.

The 12506 North-East Express, which runs from Anand Vihar Terminal in New Delhi to Kamakhya near Guwahati in Assam, experienced a derailment at 9:35 PM near Raghunathpur station, located in Bihar’s Buxar within the Danapur division of the East Central Railway.

Following which 21 train coaches derailed and claimed 4 lives and leaving over 60 people injured and shifted to local hospital.

Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said the Railways will find the root cause of derailment and expressed condolences for the loss of lives.

The evacuation and rescue operations were completed and all coaches have been checked, he said.
