54 Crude Bombs Recovered Near BJP Office In Kolkata

Kolkata: The West bengal Police on Sunday seized over 54 crude bombs from Khidhirpur and Hastings crossing, 100 metres away from BJP office in Kolkata.

The bomb disposal squad has been deployed in the area. Reports suggested that the bombs were found based on the input shared by the Military Intelligence, Anti Rowdy Section of Kolkata Police.

According to the sources, the police got the information about the explosive from military intelligence. The investigation is on process, the police are yet to share further details to public, Police from Hastings police station, bomb squad and officers from the anti-rowdy section reached the spot and diffused the bombs.

The officer said.”We have started investigation to find out how the bombs came there. The CCTV footage is also being examined,” The localities also informed that around 54 crude bombs were filed in four sacks, which was used for the packing of fruits. the sacks were covered with packing boxes and it actually seemed to look like fruits.

Last month, in Birbhum district of West Bengal, an 11-year-old boy was killed after a crude bomb exploded. The bomb was then kept in a box in Khatipur village, the boy accidentally came in contact with the bomb while playing in the  canal and died.

Back in March, over 26 pieces of crude bombs in cotton-made bags had been recovered in Beniapukur . This was on the first day of polling in West Bengal Assembly Elections. Even before west Bengal polling, crude bombs were discovered by West Bengal police from a mango farm in the Harish-Chandrapur area in  Malda and similarly, another  box of explosive was recovered from Bardhaman.
