3 terrorists gunned down by security forces in J&K

Srinagar: In the latest encounter between security forces and ultras in the trouble-torn Jammu and Kashmir State at least three terrorists have been gunned down in Chowgam area of Qazigund since last night.

As per the J&K Police, a bloody gun battle erupted between a group of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Hizbul Mujahideen late last night after the security forces launched a search operation after getting a tip-off on the presence of the ultras in Chowgam, located 72 km away from Srinagar in South Kashmir district.

The gun battle which continued throughout the night left at least five ultras dead so far, confirmed the police. However, it maintained that the report is not final and the number of terrorists dead in the operation could increase as the gun fight is still on.

As per the information, the gunned down terrorists were involved in a in a series of terror acts including killing of 2 bank employees and many policemen in past few months. They were also involved in weapon loot and bank robbery.
