19 injured after Bihar-bound train catches fire in Uttar Pradesh’s Etawah

19 passengers were left injured after fire broke out in a coach of the Delhi-Saharsa Vaishali Superfast Express in Uttar Pradesh’s Etawah.

Etawah: In a tragic incident, at least 19 passengers were left injured after fire broke out in a coach of the Delhi-Saharsa Vaishali Superfast Express in Uttar Pradesh’s Etawah. The incident took place during the early hours of Thursday.

Reportedly, the train was enroute to Saharsa in Bihar from Delhi when the fire occurred at around 2:30 am in the S6 coach near the pantry car. The exact cause behind the fire is yet to be ascertained.

People at the scene were seen attempting to put out the fire by pouring buckets of water. Uday Shankar, Circle Office of the Railways stated a detailed investigation will be conducted to determine the exact reason behind the fire.

11 of the 19 injured people were referred to PGI after they complained of breathing issued. The remaining 8 were admitted to a district hospital after sustaining minor burn injuries.

This incident comes in just a day after another fire-related even in Etawah. On Wednesday, three coaches of the New Delhi-Darbhanga Superfast Express caught fire. Some passengers reportedly suffered minor injuries.

Initial investigations pointed out to a short circuit as the cause. Notably, there were more number of passengers than the capacity of the train, and some had to jump out as the fire spread.
