Viral Video: Cuffe Parade Skyscraper In Mumbai Turns Into Waterfall

Mumbai: Mumbai is battling torrential rains and a video of a building at New Cuffe Parade has gone viral on social media. Water is seen gushing down the skyscraper so much so that it looks like a waterfall.

The video has been shared on Twitter by K Sudarshan as he captioned it saying, “Waterfalls in New Cuffe Parade! #MumbaiRains”.

Twitteratis were of the opinion that the waterfall-like scenario was witnessed in the building because of the Mumbai rains. But Lodha Group, who own the building, issued a clarification in a statement and said, “We have installed a back-up tank for better water storage capacity. This is a newly installed and testing was ongoing. During the testing, there was a failure and so water in the tank during the test overflowed. The vendor is smartage who has done hundreds of such projects and a team investigating the root cause will address the same. Since it is a back-up tank, there is no impact on tanks providing regular domestic supply and there will be no impact on residents.”

Meanwhile, the Met department on Saturday predicted “heavy to very heavy rainfall” for Mumbai and adjoining areas on Sunday and Monday.

The Colaba observatory has recorded a rainfall of 70 mm in the last 24 hours ended on Saturday morning, which is higher compared to the quantum of rains recorded by the Santa Cruz centre.

“Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely for the next two days in the city and its adjoining areas,” said IMD Chief PRO Vishambhar Singh. The IMD has predicted a cloudy weather for this period.
