‘Dosa’ ranks 10th on list of World’s best pancakes, ‘Masala Dosa’ ranks 12th

In an interesting piece of news, famous South Indian dish Dosa has ranked 10th in the list of ‘World’s best pancakes.’ Dosa is undoubtedly one of the most tasteful and irresistible meal in the country.

We often come across videos showing foreigners enjoying this Indian delicacy. Dosa has always managed to capture the hearts of people from all over the globe for centuries now.

As per a travel and food guide Taste Atlas, Dosa has achieved the 10th position in the list of World’s best pancakes. This recognition is the proof of love for the delicacy.

Moreover, the Taste Atlas also praised Dosa as a thin pancake which has a crisp texture and richness in flavors. Notably, Dosa is prepared from a batter of soaked rice and black gram beans. Then it undergoes a fermentation process and so continues the preparation process.

Taking to their official website, the Taste Atlas wrote, “Indian dosa is a staple dish in the entire country, but some believe that the dosa had originated in the south Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is an ancient dish, whose origins are traced back to the 1st century AD, when it was first mentioned in Tamil literature.”

If that was not all, another version of the delicacy known as ‘Masala Dosa,’ also secured the 12th position on the list. This is also much loved dish among the Indians.

Here’s the list of things that you will need to prepare Dosa at home:

  • Rice
  • Urad Dal
  • Fenugreek Seeds
  • Oil

Meanwhile, the first position on the list was claimed by ‘Crepes’ from Brittany. Notably, these thin pancakes with delicate texture come from the French cuisine.
