Chaitra Navratri 2024 has started from today. Chaitra Navratri this year started from April 9th and will end on April 17th, on the Ramnavami Tithi. Goddess Durga is worshiped in these nine days of Navratri.
1st day worship
On the first day of Navratri, Maa Shailaputri is worshipped. Maa Shailaputri is the daughter of Himalayaraj. Shaila means hill. In her previous birth her name was Sati who was the consort of Lord Shiva. By worshiping Maa Shailaputri, one’s life becomes stable like the name of the mother Goddess.
On the first day of Navratri, many special things have to be taken care of in the puja. Hence let’s know how to worship Mother Shailaputri on the first day of Navratri.
How to worship Maa Shailaputri
On the first day of Navratri, place a red or white cloth on a wooden plate and place the deity or image of Mata Shailaputri on it. White things are very dear to mother, so give mother white clothes or white flowers and offer white barfi. By worshiping Mother Shailaputri, all the wishes are fulfilled and girls get a husband of their choice.
Offering for Goddess:
On the first day of Chaitra Navratri, offer Maa Shailaputri a pure desi ghee made halwa and fruits.
If you are fasting
If you are fasting on Chaitra Navratri, take only water and fruits after the puja. Avoid consumption of garlic, onion, meat fish etc. at home. Do not wear black cloth if you are doing the brata.
