There is a Shree Ram temple in a Muslim colony in Ganjam district of Odisha where both Hindus and Muslims worship. This hundred year old temple is situated in the Patrapeta sahi in the Muslim resident area on the Corporation road in Berhampur. This is a great example of communal harmony.

The sound of Jai Shri Ram is echoing everywhere especially following the ‘pran pratistha’ of the newly built Shree Ram temple in Ayodhya. The reflection of the establishment of this new Ram Temple in Ayodhya is reflected everywhere across the country. Devotees are seen praying, lighting lamps and making processions in different towns and cities.

Among these, a special puja was also performed in this Ram temple situated in the Corporation Road of Berhampur.

There are many Ram temples as well as Hanuman temples in Berhampur. However, the Shree Ram temple in the Patrapeta sahi is more than hundred years old. Special worship was performed here on the occasion of inauguration of the Ayodhya temple.

On the occasion of various festivals including Ram Navami, the members of the Muslim community living near the Ram temple come and extend their support in the worship of this Ram temple. This gives the message of unity and communal harmony in diversity.

Even though there is a Muslim colony nearby, there was never any disturbance or any restriction in the worship, said the priest of the temple and praised cooperation of the Muslim brothers. Also, the members of the Muslim community say that they are happy to extend their support for this worship.
