Keonjhar: The Badaghagara waterfall in Odisha’s Keonjhar district is undoubtedly a treat for your eyes. The place is full of natural beauty along with picturesque landscapes.

Badaghagara waterfall is a prominent tourist place in Keonjhar district that houses enormous natural resources. The waterfall, dense forest, hill, flora and fauna spellbound the visitors.

To reach Badaghagara fall, one needs to travel six km on the National Highway 49 till Anjar and then take a left turn and travel for four kms.

At the Badaghagara waterfall, after climbing the hill one can enjoy beauty of the Machhakandana dam. It seems like it has spread till the horizon.

Once you get down from the hill one can witness the spectacular sight of the Badaghagara waterfall. The fall has been surrounded with dense forest.

Atop the hill is a Lord Shiva temple. Besides, a new footpath, staircase and a rest house are also there. The fountain is the main attraction of Badaghagara waterfall. To witness the beauty of the water falling from a top height, a ‘floating jetty’ is there. The water drops sprinkled from the fall on the visitors when they are at the jetty, is an unforgettable experience.

With coming of the winter season tourists have started to visit Badaghagara waterfall.

The state government has spent Rs. 4 crore 70 lakhs towards development of the surrounding and beautification of Badaghagara waterfall and about 80% work has been completed, said the District Tourism Officer. Now the works of the water jets, toilet complex, beautification, parking lot, drinking water arrangement, lighting, picnic pindi, tree plantation and roads etc. is going on.

Besides, Rs 2 crore has been sanctioned from the MI Dept. The work will be started very soon, the District Tourism Officer informed.
