851 food items offered to Shree Krishna on Vyanjan Dwadasi in Puri today

To mark Vyanjan Dwadasi festival 851 food items were offered to Shree Krishna at the Sri Gour Vihar Ashram in Odisha’s Puri district.

Puri: Today is the holy festive of Vyanjan Dwadasi. To mark this festival 851 food items were offered to Shree Krishna at the Sri Gour Vihar Ashram in Odisha’s Puri district. Every year over 500 food dishes are offered to Shree Radha and Krishna on this day.

This year, the 851 food items included sweets, pithas, Khichdi, food made from Ghee (butter), 17 types of rice, 18 types of porridge, 51 types of curry and nearly 161 kinds of chutney.

It is worth mentioning here that the Vyanjan Dwadashi is observed on the Dwadashi (12th day) tithi of the bright fortnight (Sukhla Pakshya) in the month of Margasira. As per legends, Maa Yashoda prepared a number of food items for Lord Krishna in the Dwapara yug and served him on this day.

To observe the festive the Vyanjan Dwadashi is being celebrated every year in the Goura Vihar Ashram in Puri of Odisha. More than 500 dishes are offered to Lord Radha Krishna here.

Earlier in yesteryear, more than 100 food items were offered to Shree Krishna. Meanwhile, in 2021, about 701 foods had been prepared in this Ashram during Vyanjan Dwadashi. In 2020 due to Covid pandemic only 151 food items were prepared. Similarly in 2019, 675 food items were prepared while, 635 items were prepared in 2018.
