TIME Magazine names Taylor Swift ‘Person of the year,’ singer reacts

Time magazine has named US pop superstar Taylor Swift as its ‘Person of the Year,’ recognizing her as a musical force and the hero of her own story. The Editor-in-chief of Time Sam Jacobs said in a statement that Swift found a way to transcend borders and be a source of light. He further called Swift the rare person who is both the writer and hero of her own story. 

In 2023, Taylor Swift’s impact was marked by the massive success of ‘The Eras Tour’ film, opening with a staggering $92.8 million and breaking records as the best-selling feature-length concert film in history. The film’s advance ticket sales surpassed $100 million globally. 

Swift’s influence extended beyond music, with her blossoming romance with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce bringing a new wave of fans to the NFL. Her social media presence, boasting hundreds of millions of followers, played a crucial role in connecting with her audience.

Sam Jacobs further praised Swift for building a world that welcomed many and turning her story into a global legend. Her ongoing Eras tour has been a significant revenue generator, with each concert reportedly bringing in $13 million. Notably, Taylor Swift’s ‘The Eras Tour’ currently has over 145 dates.
