Kapil Sharma and passengers express frustration as IndiGo flight faces 4-hour delay

Passengers, including actor-comedian Kapil Sharma, faced a harrowing experience on IndiGo airline’s 6E 5149 flight from Chennai to Mumbai on Wednesday evening. Scheduled to depart at 8 pm, the flight got delayed by four hours due to the absence of the co-pilot.

Noted Mumbai-based dermatologist, Dr Aparna Santhanam, shared her ordeal, stating, “The trouble started when we were made to sit in the bus for 30 minutes. Later, even after 45 minutes inside the plane, there was no sign of take-off. The crew blamed the rains for the delay. But we found that there was no co-pilot!!”

The co-pilot had exceeded duty hours, and the replacement was stuck in traffic. Passengers, including senior citizens, were deplaned, sent to the air terminal for security checks, and then asked to reboard the same aircraft. The departure time was pushed to 12 midnight, leading to frustration among travellers.

Expressing his discontent, Kapil Sharma took to social media, particularly X (formerly Twitter), to criticize IndiGo airlines. In his post, he wrote, “Dear IndiGo6E first you made us wait in the bus for 50 minz, and now your team is saying the pilot is stuck in traffic, what? Really? We were supposed to take off by 8 pm, and it’s 9:20, still, there is no pilot in the cockpit. Do you think these 180 passengers will fly in Indigo again? Never #indigo 6E 5149.”

Kapil Sharma further shared a video showing passengers being deboarded and going through another security check at the terminal before the flight could take off again. “Now they are de-boarding all the passengers and saying we will send you in another aircraft, but again we have to go back to the terminal for security check,” he captioned the video post.
