Deepika Padukone announced as presenter at prestigious BAFTA awards

Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone has been announced as one of the presenters at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) awards. The actress will join fellow presenters footballer David Beckham, actor Cate Blanchett and singer Dua Lipa.

According to reports, David Beckham, Cate Blanchett and Dua Lipa will be presenting one award each. However the categories are yet to be revealed.

Earlier, Hugh Grant, Lily Collins, Adjoa Andoh, Emma Corrin, Gillian Anderson, Himesh Patel and Idris Elba were unveiled as the presenters of the BAFTA awards scheduled to be held on February 19 at London’s Royal Festive Hall.

Meanwhile, historical drama Oppenheimer has received the maximum nominations with 13 number at the BAFTA Film Awards. At the same time, Gothic comedy Poor Things and Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon, about the murders of members of the Osage Nation in the 1920s, both received nine nominations each.

Previously, Deepika presented an award at the Oscars 2023. In the work front, Deepika Padukone and Hrithik Roshan-starrer “Fighter” has crossed the Rs 150 crore mark at the domestic box office. After witnessing a drop for a few days, the film seems to have bounced back on its 10th day of release.

Apart from Deepika and Hrithik, the film also has a number of renowned Bollywood faces under its belt. This include Anil Kapoor, Vivek Oberoi, Karan Singh Grover, Akshay Oberoi, and Sanjeeda Shaikh in lead roles.

Helmed by Siddharth Anand, the film had its global theatrical launch on January 25, 2024. Releasing on the Republic day weekend, the film managed to fare pretty well in the first four days. After which, “Fighter” saw a dip in the collections.
