Sharing the news on his Instagram account, Akshay displayed a photograph of his official government documents confirming the change in citizenship status. The actor, who was previously a Canadian citizen, has now taken Indian citizenship, a decision that has occasionally sparked debate and critique from certain quarters.
Taking to his Instagram handle, Akshay Kumar shared a snapshot of his legal document, which now identifies him as “Akshay Hariom Bhatia.” While sharing the picture, he wrote, “Dil aur citizenship, dono Hindustani. Happy Independence Day! Jai Hind! 🇮🇳.”
