Sensex opens with marginal gains, Nifty above 19750

The BSE Sensex was up by 82 points or 0.12%, reaching 66,610. The Nifty50 was trading at 19,771, showing an increase of 17 points or 0.09%.

Indian equity markets started the day with slight gains on Tuesday, following the positive performance of global peers. Banking, financial, and auto stocks led the way.

At 9.20 am, the BSE Sensex was up by 82 points or 0.12%, reaching 66,610. The Nifty50 was trading at 19,771, showing an increase of 17 points or 0.09%.

Among the Sensex stocks, NTPC, Tech Mahindra, Tata Motors, Bharti Airtel, and UltraTech Cement opened with gains. On the other hand, Power Grid, Maruti, Bajaj Finserv, Sun Pharma, HUL, and HCL Tech opened with losses.

Adani Green Energy shares saw a 4% rise after the company reported a 51% increase in net profit to Rs 323 crore in Q1 FY24. HG Infra Engineering shares also increased by 4% after the company’s net profit for the first quarter reached Rs 150 crore, with revenue from operations at Rs 1,351 crore.

Nifty Metal surged by 0.63%, and Nifty Auto rose by 0.35%. However, banks, financial services, FMCG, IT, media, pharma, and consumer durables sectors opened with losses. In the broader market, Nifty Midcap 50 gained 0.26%, and Nifty Smallcap 50 advanced 0.71%.
