Sensex hits an all-time high of 63,588; Media, realty indices surge most

The Indian equity indices hit an all-time high on Wednesday despite weak globe cues. Check the latest domestic indices changes.

Mumbai: The Indian equity indices reached an all-time high on Wednesday after gains in index heavyweights Reliance, TCS and HDFC twins. The BSE Sensex rose 260 points or 0.41% to 63,588, while the Nifty50 was trading at 18,870 in early trade.

The previous peak was 63,583, which it scaled on December 1 last year.

In sectoral indices, Bank Nifty was trading at 43,762.55, Nifty Media surged 1.63%, Nifty Auto rose 0.37% while Nifty Pharma fell 0.34% and Nifty Metal dipped 0.24%.

The top gainers on Nifty 50 were Reliance, TCS, Power Grid, HDFC Life, Wipro, UltraTech Cement and Tech Mahindra while the losers were JSW Steel, Hindalco, Divis Lab, Cipla and Sun Pharma.
