Sensex hit new record highs for second straight session, Nifty above 20,700

The S&P BSE Sensex climbed 0.44% to an all-time high of 69,168.53 and the NSE Nifty 50 index was up 0.59% to 20,808.90 points.

New Delhi: India’s benchmark indexes Nifty and Sensex opened at record highs for the second day on Tuesday. The gain was boosted by strong macroeconomic data, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) winning key state elections in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.

At 9:15 am, the S&P BSE Sensex climbed 0.44% to an all-time high of 69,168.53 and the NSE Nifty 50 index was up 0.59% to 20,808.90 points.

Adani Ports, Adani Enterprises, Bharat Petroleum Corp, and M&M are the top Nifty 50 gainers. The Adani Enterprises shares jump 10%. HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank gained about 1% while Axis Bank and State Bank of India rose 1.75% each.
