Google layoffs: 30,000 more employees might lose their jobs: Report

Google is reportedly planning to restructure the ad sales unit and use more AI-powered tools. This will affect around 30,000 employees.

Amid the discussion about artificial intelligence (AI) causing job cuts across various sectors, Google is reportedly planning to fire 30,000 more employees in the ad sales unit and replace it with AI-powered tools.

In 2023, the search engine giant laid off over 12,000 employees in four phases in various departments. Now, it seems the Alphabet-owned Google is making plans to reorganize its 30,000-person ads unit.

According to reports, Google might consolidate staff, and possibly layoff by reassigning employees in the customer sales unit. This will affect the employees who manage relationships with major advertisers.

This comes as Google is employing more AI-powered tools to create new ads and place them on its Ads channels, including Google Search, YouTube, and others. The AI tools are estimated to contribute tens of billions of dollars to the company’s revenue. The AI tools reportedly help the company to make more profit with minimal employee involvement.

The AI tools reportedly help advertisers to automatically generate keywords, headlines, descriptions, images, and other assets as per the website scans. It also assists the advertisers in determining the optimal ad placements across various Google Ads channels.

Google might make the official announcement about the possible layoff or reorganization in the ad unit next month.
