Equity indices trade lower today! Sensex fall near 500 points 72,123, Nifty below 22,000

New Delhi: The Indian benchmark indices traded lower in Thursday’s opening session. The indices were dragged by the index heavyweights HDFC Bank, Bharti Airtel and Reliance Industries.

Most of the sectors including Nifty PSU Bank were trading in the red. Nifty PSU Bank index dropped over 1%. However, IT & media sectors were trading higher.

With a fall of 404 points, the BSE Sensex was trading lower at 72,207 while Nifty50 was down 135 points while trading at 21,919 at around 9.29 am.

The benchmark BSE Sensex dropped nearly 500 points and the Nifty fell over 150 points today. At 10.23 am, the Sensex dropped 499. 74 points to trade at 72,123.35, and the Nifty was trading at 21,897.30 points with a loss of 157.75 points or 0.72 per cent.

From the top gaining stocks on Sensex were Axis Bank, HCL Tech, L&T, TCS, Wipro, and Maruti while Asian Paints, Bharti Airtel, Power Grid, and Bajaj Finserv traded with cuts.

Axis Bank, Eicher Motors, Apollo Hospitals, HCL Technologies, and Tech Mahindra are the top gainers on NSE Nifty 50 index.
