Mahindra Thar Armada enters final stage of its testing phase, Check expected specifications
The Mahindra Thar 5-door edition has been a talk of the town since its early production days. The Mahindra Thar Armada has now entered the final stage of the testing phase and we have a fair amount of idea about the specifications about the SUV. A test mule of the upcoming SUV was spotted near ARAI’s facility in Pune and this means that the launch is quite near.
The test mule that was spotted recently is expected to be a top range version of the upcoming Thar Armanda. The testing vehicle was spotted with new 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and there are three different wheel options on offer. Base variant gets steel wheels while the higher trims get alloy wheels. Another spy shot had revealed that the SUV will be offering a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system that is already available with the new XUV 3XO.
The new Thar will get a new grille, rear wiper with a remote fuel-filling cap, redesigned bumpers over the Thar 3-door model. The automobile will offer LED lights, fully digital instrument cluster, front and rear centre armrests, push button start-stop, rear AC vents and much more. In terms of safety, the 5-door model will get six airbags and rear disc brakes. Expected starting price of the Thar 5-door model will be around Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom).
The engine of the 5-door model will be a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and a 2.2-litre turbo-diesel that is offered on the Scorpio N. The power outputs are expected to be similar to that of the Scorpio N. The 2.2-litre diesel engine will offer 175hp of power while the 2.0-litre turbo-petrol will offer 203hp. Sources have also clarified that the Thar 5-door model will be getting 4WD and 2WD options.
Speaking about the competition, the Mahindra Thar 5-door will be named as the Thar Armada. The 4×4 variants are expected to be available initially while the 4×2 variants will be available on a later date. The 5-door Thar will be rivalling the Maruti Suzuki Jimny as well as the Force Gurkha 5-door model.
