Mumbai-bound IndiGo flight gets bomb threat, lands safely

Mumbai: A Mumbai-bound IndiGo flight received a bomb threat message on Tuesday while it was en route from Chennai. Fortunately, the flight landed safely in Mumbai.

According to reports, the bomb threat message was received at the private airline’s call centre in New Delhi.

Informing about the incident, the airlines said in a statement, “IndiGo flight 6E 5149, operating from Chennai to Mumbai, had received a bomb threat. Upon landing in Mumbai, the crew followed protocol and the aircraft was taken to an isolation bay.”

Earlier yesterday, many airports, including Varanasi, Chennai, Patna, and Jaipur, received bomb threat emails. On searching and carrying out anti-sabotage checks that lasted hours, the threats turned out to be hoaxes.

On Monday, a Dubai-bound flight received a bomb threat via email at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. However, upon checking the plane, the threat turned out to be a hoax.

The  Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) at the IGI Airport received the email on Monday at 9.35 am.

Informing about the incident, the Delhi Police said ANI, “On June 17 at 9.35 am, an email was received in DIAL (Delhi International Airport Limited) office, IGI Airport, with the threat of a bomb inside a Delhi to Dubai flight. Accordingly, necessary legal action has been taken and nothing suspicious was found.”
