BMW i5 electric sedan production begins, India launch in 2024

BMW has started the production of the i5 electric sedan at the automobile manufacturer's largest European plant in Germany.

BMW has started the production of the i5 electric sedan at the automobile manufacturer’s largest European plant in Dinglfing, Germany. The pure electric version of the new BMW 5 Series sedan is expected to arrive in the Indian market as well after it’s global launch.

The BMW i5 EV is expected to arrive in India by next year. The midsize  i5 EV will be positioned between the i4 and i7 models in its all-electric lineup. The i5 will be available for purchase alongside the petrol-powered 5 Series sedan.

The i5 will have an identical design as the petrol version. The BMW i5 eDrive40 produces a power of 335 bhp. It can accelerates from 0 to 96 kmph in just 5.7 seconds and has an impressive range of up to 475 kilometers on a single charge.

The i5 M60 variant will be coming alongside the standard i5 model to the international market. The boasts an impressive 592 bhp of peak power, enabling it to accelerate from 0 to 96 kmph in just 3.7 seconds. The car comes equipped with an all-wheel drive system, which enhances traction and performance capabilities. It provides a range of up to 411 kilometers on a single charge.

The features of the BMW i5 includes OS 8.5 software, 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster.

The BMW i5 allows drivers to stream and play video games while the vehicle is parked. The upcoming BMW i5 is equipped with an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), which includes a hands-free driver assistance system for added convenience and safety.
