Ather will be launching a new electric scooter in the upcoming days and it is likely to rival the likes of TVS iQube. The Ather’s iQube rival has been seen while testing in Bengaluru. Initially reported by Autocar India, some of the important characteristics of the all-new EV is spacious seating position, no-hub mounted motor and more conventional styling.

From the latest spy pictures, we can see the side and rear sections of the scooter. The overall design of the scooter is family centric and not a sporty scooter. The scooter is covered from front to back in camouflage and we are unable to see the design of the electric scooter. The other important observations of the scooter are flat floorboard, spacious seat and a handlebar that is set at a comfortable height. The grab handles are large and practical and are placed at the back.

Speaking about the practical aspects of the electric scooter we get a large, foldable pillion footrest at the rear. We get mudguards on both ends and it appears to be quite substantial.

Another important aspect of the scooter is that the belt drive system is concealed and it is expected to increase the durability of the system. However, the scooter does not have a hub motor which is present on low cost EVs. This simply means that scooter will be a premium product. Premium aspect of the scooter can be seen mirror stalks as well as on the sleek LED tail-lamp. The side stand is an alloy unit.

It can be seen that the electric scooter sports a DeepView LCD display that is present on the 450S. When it comes to chassis, we find a 12-inch front wheel along with a disc brake. The rear brake can be either disc or disc and is currently unknown. We expect the range of the scooter will be 90km while the top speed will be 90kmph

We expect Ather to officially reveal some specifications of the upcoming scooter very soon.
