Next 24 hours is crucial for Karunanidhi
Chennai: The health condition of DMK Chief and former Tamil Nadu CM M.Karunanidhi worsened on Monday.
The hospital authorities, in a release said that maintaining his vital organ functions remains a challenge in view of his age-related ailments.
“He is on continuous monitoring and being treated with active medical support. His response to the medical intervention over the next 24 hours will determine the prognosis,” a statement from the hospital read.
Karunanidhi’s daughter Kanimozhi is by the side of her father. Earlier today, Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president S Thirunavukkarasar had said that following a setback earlier today, Karunanidhi’s health was stable and improving.
Senior leaders of DMK, such as general secretary K Anbazhagan and leaders like A Raja, KN Nehru, Ponmudi, Duraimurugan, also visited the hospital.
Karunanidhi was admitted to the Kauvery Hospital in Chennai on July 28 after a dip in his blood pressure caused alarm.
President Ram Nath Kovind had on Sunday visited the five-time chief minister of Tamil Nadu at the hospital and wished him a speedy recovery. The President had also met Karunanidhi’s daughter Kanimozhi and son MK Stalin at the hospital.
On July 31, the hospital had said that the 94-year-old veteran politician’s stay would be extended due to age-related health issues.
