6 hurt in scuffle between two families in Keonjhar

Keonjhar: At least six persons have sustained injuries in a group clash which broke out between two families over a land dispute in Baramal village under Ghasipura police limits in Keonjhar district last night.

The injured persons have been identified as Prashant Palei, Srikant Palei, Satrughna Palei, Basant Palei, Sambhunath Palei and Brushav Palei.

As per the report, a long-standing land dispute was existing between the families of Chaitanya Palei and Satrughna Palei, who happen to be siblings, in the village since long. Due to the incessant rain which lashed the village recently, a soil sliding took place at Satrughna’s crop field and destroyed the standing crops at Chaitanya’s piece of land located adjacent to it.

A fierce argument took place between the two families after Chaitanya held his sibling responsible for the loss last night. Later the argument escalated into a brawl and members from both side started attacking each other with stones and sharp weapons.

All the injured were rushed to Keshadurapal and Anandpur hospitals following the mishap with grievous injuries.

No police complaint has been registered in the case so far.
