Elephant herd wreaks havoc in Balasore, damage several houses

Balasore: Jumbo attack fear continues to haunt denizens in the State with more reports of house damage by elephant herd which was received from Kuldiha area of Balasore district last night.

As per the report, a large herd of pachyderms sneaked into the Chhotakanpur village last night and destroyed the house of one Padmanabh Pradhan. During the attack, a number of cows sustained injuries as walls of a cattle-shed collapsed and fell on them.

Later the herd went on a rampage and damaged few more houses in the village before returning into the nearby forest.

While timely steps by the villagers prevented any damage to human life during the incident, forest officials reached the village this morning to take stock of the situation.
