Cuttack: At least four persons of a family had a close shave and were rushed to hospital with injuries following a wall collapse which occurred in Talabhejiput village under Dampada block in the district last night.
The injured have been identified as Upendra Majhi and three others of his family of the same village.
As per the report, Upendra who was living in a thatched house in the village along with his family was struck with the tragedy late in the night. It is suspected that due to heavy rain which had lashed the village for last couple of days had weakened the victim family’s house which ultimately caved in and fell on the members.
Some neighbours rescued the victims under the rubble of the collapsed house later in the night after hearing their screams and rushed to Banki Hospital in a 108 ambulance.
A child who was also among the injured was shifted to SCB Medical in Cuttack this morning due to deteriorating condition.
Police have reached the spot and lodged a case in the incident after conducting preliminary investigation at the site.
