Hunter falls prey to hunting, body recovered after 2 days

Kendrapara: A youth was found electrocuted to death after missing from his house for at least two days following a hunting trip in Lanjuda village under Mahakalpada police limits in the district today.

The deceased has been identified as Sudhanshu Sethy of Lanjuda village.

Sudhanshu left his house at around 6.30 PM in the evening on Tuesday along with seven of his friends to hunt wild boar in Panikia forest and didn’t return till late Wednesday morning. Worried over it, Sudhanshu’s family members launched a frantic search in and around the village and lodged a complaint at Mahakalpada Police Station the same day.

Police recovered the victim’s body from a muddy patch at Charanagheri area inside the Panikia forest today and arrested three of the team members for their suspected role in the incident.

Police said that from preliminary investigation it was found that the victim had died of electrocution by live-wires put up inside forest to trap wild animals, which is a common practice among hunters.
