UK PM Rishi Sunak bans this breed of dog, Know why

United Kingdom Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced that the American XL bully dogs will be banned following a series of horrific attacks

London: United Kingdom Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced that the American XL bully dogs will be banned following a series of horrific attacks.

Taking to X, Sunak said, “Its clear the American XL bully dog is dangerous to our communities. I’ve ordered urgent work to define and ban this breed so that we can end these violent attacks and keep people safe.”

“This is not about a handful of badly trained dogs. It’s a pattern of behaviour and it cannot go on,” Rishi Sunak said in a video posted on his official ‘X’ account.

The announcement came after shocking footage emerged of an attack in Birmingham last weekend that left an 11-year-old girl with serious injuries.

South Yorkshire Police reported four separate dog attacks on children in two days, including one where a 15-year-old was taken to hospital after being savaged by an XL bully in Sheffield. The police in London are also hunting the owner of a grey pitbull-type dog that attacked a four-year-old boy on Monday.

The UK has so far banned four breeds of dogs- the pitbull terrier, the Japanese tosa, the dogo Argentino and the fila Brasileiro.
