Pilot turns Samaritan, helps deliver baby mid-flight

A pilot becomes a hero after leaving the cockpit and helping to deliver a newborn baby in the air.

Recently, a pilot on a VietJet plane rushed into action after a pregnant woman went into labour on his plane during the journey from Taipei in Taiwan to Bangkok in Thailand.

According to the New York Post, the pilot Jakarin Sararnrakskul has flying experience of 18 years and he is a father of one safely delivered the newborn after he was informed by the cabin crew of the emergency unfolding in one of the plane’s bathrooms.

Reports say, a cabin crew told the pilot that a woman was in labor in one of the airplane bathrooms. Sararnrakskul who was flying the plane left the cockpit to his female co-pilot and rushed to the laboring mom to be.

Sararnrakskul then delivered a baby while the plane was thousands of feet in the air.

“I have been a pilot for 18 years,” Sararnrakskul posted on Instagram. “I just helped a newborn baby on the plane.”

When the airplane touched down, paramedics were waiting on the runway, the Post reports. Both the mother and baby were confirmed to be safe and healthy.
