4.1 magnitude earthquake hits China

Qinghai: An earthquake of magnitude 4.1 on the Richter scale jolted Qinghai in China on wee hours of Friday. As per information, the quake struck China at 03:54:58 (IST) on Friday.

As per reports from the National Centre of Seismology (NCS), the earthquake originated at 33.51 Latitude and 93.17 longitude. Notably, the epicentre of the earthquake was about 198 kilometers beneath the earth surface.

The NCS took to their official handle on X (formerly Twitter) to inform about the earthquake in China. They wrote, “Earthquake of Magnitude: 4.1, Occurred on 22-03-2024, 03:54:58 IST, Lat: 33.51 & Long: 93.17, Depth: 198 Km, Region: Qinghai, China.”

No reports of casualties or injuries have been reported yet.

Earlier, two earthquakes, within a span of 10 minutes, struck Maharashtra’s Hingoli city during the early hours of Thursday, said reports in this regard. The first quake of magnitude 4.5 on the Richter scale was felt at around 6:08 AM on Thursday.

The National Centre of Seismology took to their official handle on X to inform about the earthquake in Maharashtra. Reportedly, the quake originated at 19.48 Latitude and 77.30 Longitude, at a depth of 10 kilometer.

Minutes after the first quake, tremors of magnitude 3.5 on the Richter scale were felt in the same region. The second earthquake jolted Hingoli in Maharashtra at about 6:19 AM. In a separate post on X, NCS wrote, “Earthquake of Magnitude: 3.6, Occurred on 21-03-2024, 06:19:05 IST, Lat: 19.41 & Long: 77.32, Depth: 10 Km, Location: Hingoli, Maharashtra”
