The Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office posted two images of the suspected shooter, who was seen holding a rifle in a firing position, on their Facebook page. The suspect remains at large, as reported by Reuters.

Local law enforcement authorities have called on the public for assistance in identifying the suspect in the photographs.

The Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston issued a statement, acknowledging the occurrence of a mass casualty event involving a mass shooter. They are actively coordinating with nearby hospitals to provide medical care to the injured.

Emergency personnel responded to multiple shooting incidents at various locations, including a bowling alley, a restaurant, and a Walmart distribution center, according to the Sun Journal.

Maine State Police, responding to information about an active shooter situation in multiple locations, ordered residents in Lewiston, the state’s second-largest city, to shelter in place on Wednesday night. They also urged the public to stay off the roads to ensure that emergency responders could have unimpeded access to hospitals.

Lewiston, located in Androscoggin County and situated approximately 35 miles north of Portland, Maine’s largest city, is now grappling with the aftermath of this devastating mass shooting.
