Rabbit R1 AI device: A pocket friendly device that can reduce your smartphone dependency

Rabbit R1 AI device that is a pocket friendly AI assistant has been launched by a US-based startup. The startup has partnered with Teenage Engineering in order to develop an app that can interact with apps without the need for a smartphone. The Rabbit R1 uses AI powered ‘rabbits’ in order to manage tasks without using any apps. The product is priced at $199 (approx. Rs. 16,500) and is offered in orange colour.

Rabbit R1- Specs, OS and Functions

Rabbit R1 runs on RabbitOS which is based on large action model (LAM). It lets users to make the device do things for them.

The Rabbit R1 uses ‘rabbits’ that are AI powered in order to replicate a user’s interaction with app and web. These rabbits use online portal in order to connect to services. They do not use any app for this purpose and in this way eliminate the need for them. The rabbits can make quick search on the internet in order to cater your daily grocery shopping or travel planning. The Rabbit R1 allows users to connect to services like Spotify, Uber, Expedia, Amazon and many more through web portal known as Rabbit hole.

In order to interact with the rabbits, users have to press and hold the ‘push to talk’ button that is present on the right side. A rabbit head will be displayed on the screen after the Rabbit OS listens to what the user says. The Rabbit R1 also get a dedicated training mode that can be used to train the device for any specific tasks.

The R1 is almost half the size of an average smartphone and offers 2.88-inch touch screen, 4GB of RAM and 128GB of inbuilt storage. The device also supports SIM card slot for 4G LTE connectivity and also get Wi-Fi function. The 360-degree camera present on the device can be used to take video calls and make visual searches. The device is powered by a MediaTek chipset, offers 1000mAh battery and USB Type-C charging port.

The company will be shipping the devices by April, if they are pre-ordered by March 31. Even though the initial shipping will be in the US, it is expected to be available in other parts of the world later this year. As of now, we do not have any information about its availability in India.
