No Netflix Password Sharing in India from today

Netflix has ended the password sharing in India starting on Thursday as part of it's global crackdown, which started in May.

Netflix has enforced the crackdown on password sharing in India starting on Thursday. Now, the streaming platform has declared that only the members of a household can share one account. That means you won’t be able to share the password with anyone outside their immediate family anymore.

Netflix started the crackdown on password sharing in May. The ban has been imposed in more than 100 countries including prominent markets like the United States, Britain, France, Germany, Australia, Singapore, Mexico, and Brazil. In doing this, the company has stated that they have gained around 6 million new subscribers globally.

The streaming giant said in a statement that “Everyone living in that household can use Netflix wherever they are – at home, on the go, on holiday – and take advantage of new features like Transfer Profile and Manage Access and Devices.”

Netflix has already started sending emails to users who are sharing the password outside their household in India. Netflix plans to expand the policy to all its markets worldwide.

According to reports, the platform has a total of 238 million subscribers at the end of this quarter. It has gained a profit of $1.5 billion.

Meanwhile, for users who wants to have a shared account can opt for the “borrower” or “shared” accounts by paying a higher price. You can also transfer your profiles to new accounts.

Netflix has also ended it’s lowest priced ad-free plan that cost $10 a month in the US.
