Gmail Offline: Now you can send email without internet

Google’s email service app Gmail can now be used offline. Now, Gmail users can send, receive and check on emails even if they don’t have an active internet connection. Gmail is one of the most-used email services in the market and Google often improves it by adding new features and changes.

Usually, users need an active internet connection to be able to check on their mail inbox, get new mails, and respond to them on email services like Gmail or any other service. However, the Gmail’s offline mode enables users to access more or less every feature of Google’s email service without any internet. With this offline mode on, users will be able to check their inbox, open up unread emails, and even send new emails to recipients.

Check out how to enable offline mode in Gmail and how it works below.

How to Use Gmail Offline

If you want to use the offline mode for Gmail, follow the steps below to get started right away.

  • First of all, you need to open your Gmail account on your Mac, Linux, or Windows PC and access the settings using the cog icon at the top right corner.
  • Click on the pop-up menu and select ‘See all settings’ to open the settings menu.
  • Now go to the ‘Offline’ tab.
  • Turn on the ‘Enable offline mail’ for Gmail. You can also choose the desired settings for the feature.
  • Once done, click the “Save Changes” button at the bottom.
  • Now, the offline mode is turned on.

After the offline mode is turned on, Gmail will automatically sync your latest emails for offline access and keep them for a certain period, ranging from 7 days to 90 days.

However, you need to know that when you send an email in offline mode, it will not actually send the mail to a recipient. Rather the composed mail will be saved in the ‘Outbox’ folder and will be delivered as soon as the user gets back online. Google also suggests that users should bookmark Gmail in their Chrome browsers to easily access the platform while being offline.
