CERT-In issues high-security warning for Apple users in India

The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) has issued a high-risk security warning for multiple vulnerabilities for Apple devices.

Samsung users in India recently got a high-security warning from the Central government about multiple vulnerabilities that might threaten the security of their personal data and devices.

Now, the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) has issued a high-security warning for Apple users. The CERT-In has warned that there are multiple vulnerabilities in the Apple device that might affect the safety of the device and data security.

The security-related vulnerabilities reportedly allow hackers to access sensitive information, and execute arbitrary code in the device to perform malicious activities, said CERT-In.

The vulnerabilities can also be used by cybercriminals to avoid security restrictions to gain access of the device and deny user entry into the device with denial of service (DoS) conditions. Further, they can also gain unauthorized access to gain elevated privileges and perform spoofing attacks on the systems marked as targets.

Issuing the high-security warning for Apple users, CERT-In stated, “Multiple vulnerabilities have been reported in Apple products which could allow an attacker to access sensitive information, execute arbitrary code, bypass security restrictions, cause denial of service (DoS) conditions, bypass authentication, gain elevated privileges, and perform spoofing attacks on the targeted systems.”

These multiple vulnerabilities reportedly affect Apple products running iOS, iPadOS, macOS, tvOS, watchOS, and Safari browser.

The affected users have been advised to update their device software to the latest version as soon as possible.

On Wednesday. the Centre issued a similar warning against Samsung Galaxy phones.
