Apple iPhone 15 Pro receives Vision Pro spatial video capture feature with new iOS 17.2 update

Apple iPhone 15 Pro has now got the ability to record spatial videos with the latest beta version of iOS 17- iOS 17.2 beta. With the new feature, iPhone 15 Pro users can now view the upcoming Vision Pro mixed reality headset. The feature can be activated by toggling the “Spatial Video for Apple Vision Pro” option in the Settings app.

According to the company, iPhone 15 Pro users, who have installed the beta version of iOS 17.2, will see a Spatial Video for Apple Vision Pro option in the settings app. This 3D video effect will be utilized by using the top two cameras of the iPhone. But it will only come into effect if the iPhone is in a horizontal position.

According to Apple, spatial videos are captured in 1080p resolution at 30 frames per second. However, the spatial videos will occupy a huge amount of storage as each minute of footage requires approximately 130MB of storage.

Announcing the feature, Apple said that users can record spatial video with remarkable depth for viewing in the Photos app on Apple Vision Pro. For best results, keep the iPhone in landscape orientation and stable while recording. Video is recorded at 30 fps at 1080p. A minute of spatial video is approximately 130 MB.

The spatial videos will let users experience their moments in 3D and relive those memories with incredible depth on Apple Vision Pro, Apple said. the company also added that every spatial photo and video transports users back to a moment in time, like a celebration with friends or a special family gathering.

After activating the toggle, iPhone 15 Pro users who have installed the iOS 17.2 beta will see a new Spatial option for the spatial video feature within the Camera app’s “Video” interface.

Apple is expected to launch the Vision Pro in early 2024. After it’s release, users will have the ability to experience these spatial videos through the AR/VR headset. The Vision Pro headset users can also seamlessly capture their own spatial videos using the device.
