Apple iPhone 14 might offer satellite connectivity, expected to be helpful in emergency scenarios
Cupertino-based tech giant Apple is planning to give a major update to its upcoming iPhone 14 smartphone. The device provides a satellite connectivity option for emergency scenarios. This means that users can be able to use certain features of the device even if they do not have a signal on their device.
According to GizmoChina, the satellite connectivity feature will enable smartphone users to send text messages or SOS responses via a satellite network to report on accidents, similar to the one on the brand’s smartwatch.
We expect that Apple will introduce the satellite connectivity feature on all devices of the Apple iPhone 14 series. However, the company is expected to exclude the Mini version of iPhone 14. This means that we will get iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max along with another device.
Recently, the tech website reported that the tech giant is possibly working on a similar satellite feature for its Apple Watch.
The primary reason for the inclusion of this system is to allow users to send messages or reach out to emergency services in cases of an actual emergency, the report said.
This system will reportedly include an “Emergency Message via Contacts” for sending short messages in areas that do not have cellular signals. Users can send SMS to their close contacts in order to let them know about their situation in case of an emergency.
In other words, it appears that the brand is looking to include this feature in its other products as well.
Interestingly, the iPhone 13 series was also rumoured to come with such technology as well, although, this was skipped on the 2021 iPhone.
In terms of the camera module, there might not be a major upgrade for the iPhone 14 series. This means that we can expect the 12-megapixel sensors on the devices. However, if Apple thinks of upgrading the camera sensor for iPhone 14 series, it will result in a bigger camera module.
The pricing of the iPhone 14 series is also expected to go up if Apple adds upgrades to the series. Just like the current Apple iPhone 13 series, the iPhone 14 series is expected to launch in September 2022.
