Bhawanipatna: With no respite in sight from crime against women in the State, police yesterday arrested a youth in Sarangapada village under Koksara block of Kalahandi district for allegedly kidnapping a minor girl.
The accused has been identified as Biswaranjan Saraf (27) of Kashibahal village of the same district.
As per the report, the kidnapping had taken place on May 28. Saraf who was in an affair with the victim, identified as the resident of Sarangapada village convinced her to elope with him on the pretext of marriage. Later she was kidnapped to an unknown place.
After conducting a frantic search for the victim, her family found her lying unconscious near the village two days later.
Police launched an investigation into the matter following a complaint by the victim’s family yesterday and nabbed Saraf from his village.
As the family of the rescued girl has declined to accept her, she has been sent to a shelter home.
