Bhadrak: A youth hacked a girl and his father over one-sided love affair at Dalimbagadia chhak under Bant Police Station area in Bhadrak district last night.
The victims have been identified as Rabindra Sahu of Dolapadi village and his daughter.
Rabindra had been to Bhubaneswar in some work a few days back and was returning home last night when the attack took place. After deboarding the train at Kenduapada Station they were heading to home on a scooter when the accused namely Raja waylaid him and tried to kidnap the girl.
As Rabindra objected the accused he took out a ‘Bhujali’ (a sharp weapon) and attacked him and his daughter mercilessly and fled away.
Some locals rescued the injured father-daughter duo later and rushed to Bhadrak DHH and then shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for treatment.
Police reached the spot after intimation and lodged a case in connection with the attack to launch a manhunt to nab Raja.
It is learnt that Raja was willing to marry Rabindra’s daughter but she had turned down her proposition earlier. In an attempt to settle the score he carried out the attack.
