Khordha: Police have arrested an accused in the last night’s incident in which a woman was raped by a group of men in a running car in Khordha and later dumped near Prananath Autonomous College.
Police also seized the car which was used in the crime from the possession of the held criminal.
“Regarding alleged rape of a lady in a car reported in Khurda, a case has been registered on transfer on point of jurisdiction from Khurda in Khandagiri PS. Accused has been apprehended and car seized. Investigation is on. Senior officers are monitoring investigation.@cpbbsrctc” tweeted Bhubaneswar DCP this morning.
Notably, the victim had been kidnapped by a group of men from Kalinga Vihar area in Bhubaneswar while she was waiting for a bus on the pretext of the lift last evening. She was later sexually abused inside the same car and dumped near PN College in an unconscious state.
Some locals rescued the victim in the night and helped to regain sense. She was shifted to Khordha DHH for treatment subsequently.
Based on the statement of the victim a case had been lodged at the Khandagiri Police Station in connection with the case and senior officers were dealing with the case.
