Bhawanipatna: A man sustained critical injuries in wild bear attack in Dunguripada village under Golamunda police limits in Kalahandi district on Thursday.
The victim has been identified as Sashi Agaria of the same locality.
As per the report, the victim had been to his farmland for agricultural purpose early this morning when the predator attack took place. He was busy in ploughing the land when an India sloth bear which has sneaked into the village last night in search of food pounced on him and mauled.
Sashi somehow managed to release him from the clutches of the bear and escaped from the spot with grievous injury. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment by his family members.
Forest officials have arrived at the village and are trying to drive the bear away from the human habitation.
