Nabarangpur: In a shocking incident, a woman was electrocuted to death and a minor girl sustained critical injury after falling into a trap laid to hunt wild boar in Nagajodi village of Jharigaon block of the district last night.
The deceased has been identified as Jalila Harijan and Lakshmi Harijan.
As per the report, Jalila along with two others from Nagajodi village and one from Jharigaon village had gone to collect ‘Mahula’ flowers from a nearby forest yesterday evening, and were returning home late in the night. While crossing a maze field Jalila and Lakshmi unknowingly entered into a electrically charged trap and got electrocuted.
Fellow pedestrians rescued the duo in critical condition from the trap after a Herculean effort and rushed to Nabarangpur DHH in critical condition where Jalila succumbed.
While the minor is under treatment, local police has lodged a case in the incident and started investigation to nab the poachers who had laid the trap.
