Woman killed as car falls into gorge in Odisha

Mohana: A woman was killed while another woman along with a child sustained critical injury after a car in which they were traveling fell into a 60-feet deep gorge in Odisha’s Gajapati district today.

According to reports, two women, a child, a man and the driver of the vehicle were going to Tikiri village in Rayagada district from Bhubaneswar.

However, the driver lost control over the wheels of the vehicle following which the four-wheeler fell into the gorge near Khariguda village under Adava Police station limits of the district.

While a woman, who has been identified as Chitrita Dutta of West Bengal, died on the spot the minor and the woman sustained critical injuries.

On being informed, the local police reached the spot and carried out the rescue operation with the help of the villagers.

The injured were given preliminary medication at Birikote Hospital and later they were shifted to Mohana Hospital for further treatment.

Cops seized Dutta’s body and sent it for postmortem. They also have started an investigation into the matter.
