Angul: A woman died after being hit by a truck on NH-55 near Banarpal in Angul district today. This is the second fatal road mishap on the NH in last 48 hours.
Police said that the woman who is yet to be identified died on the spot. The truck driver however managed to escape from the spot. Police have seized the truck and have started an investigation.
Tension prevailed in the area after locals staged a road blockade demanding regular speed enforcement drive on the NH. The blockade was lifted with the intervention of local police.
Earlier on Saturday Aa lady school teacher was killed and her husband and minor son sustained critical injuries after being hit by a speeding truck hit near Nalco CPP on the NH.
