Malkangiri: In a shocking incident a widow committed suicide after feeding poison to her two minor sons in Telarai village under Kalimela block of Malkangiri district last night.
The deceased woman has been identified as Muke Padiami.
As per the report, Muke’s husband had died of Tuberculosis around 3 years ago due to which her parents-in-law were harassing her regularly. Last night, a verbal duel erupted between Muke and her in-laws over the same issue following which she decided to commit suicide after killing her two sons Debendra (8) and Muna (6).
After her parents-in-law went to bed late last night, Muke mixed poison in soft drinks and gave the children duo drink. Later she committed suicide by consuming poison.
Some neighbours of the victims rushed to the spot later in the night after coming to about the incident and found the woman and her younger son dead.
Debendra has been admitted to Kalimela Hospital for treatment.
Police have lodged a case in connection with the incident and started an investigation.
