Woman passes away after self-immolation bid in Berhampur

Berhampur: The Ganjam woman Minakshi Mishra, who had attempted self-immolation before Berhampur Superintendent of Police (SP) partisan approach of police a few days back passed away on Thursday.

The victim succumbed to the burn injuries caused during the suicide bid at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar, say reports.

On February 12, soon after the incident Minakshi had been rushed to MKCG Hospital in Berhampur and then shifted to SCB Medical in Cuttack and then to Bhubaneswar due to critical condition.

As per the sequence of the events, a clash had erupted between Minakshi’s son Krutibash and a group of miscreants on January 28, 2020 at Panda Colony under Baidyanathpur police limits. During her attempt to save Krutibash, the victim had also been thrashed by the attackers.

After police didn’t take any action against the attackers and rather implicated Krutibash in the false case of attempt to murder, Minakshi took the extreme step.
