TikTok Video Row: Malkangiri CDMO Bans Mobile Phones In Critical Care Units

Malkangiri: Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) of Malkangiri Ajit Kumar Mohanty today issued a directive prohibiting the entry and use of mobile phones in sensitive and critical care units of the District Headquarters Hospital.

The decision came in the wake of a recent incident in which the nurses of the Malkangiri District Headquarters Hospital were found recording TikTok videos inside the Special Neonatal Care Unit (SNCU). The videos have become viral prompting the CDMO to serve show cause notices to the concerned nurses.

The CDMO has imposed restrictions on carrying mobile phones into the Special Neonatal Care Unit (SNCU), Intensive Care Units (ICUs), Operation Theatres (OTs) and Labour rooms of the District Headquarters Hospital in order to prevent any kind of untoward incidents during treatment of patients.

All the videos were posted from a single TikTok handle of a user named Jyoti Ray. In the videos, the nurses are seen singing, dancing and frolicking inside the SNCU. They are in their official scrub and even the hospital beds and nurses’ station can be seen in the video. In one of the videos, a nurse was also seen with a sick child.
