Balangir: In a shocking incident, a groom was detained by villagers at Chaulsukha in Balangir district when he arrived at the wedding venue sanas baarat.
The thug groom has been identified as Laxmikant Tiwari.
Reportedly, he had cheated the bride’s family by identifying himself as Sanjay Sahu of Kalahandi district and showed them a house with some fake address.
The wedding date was fixed for Monday but the thug groom arrived at the wedding venue hours after the scheduled time. However, he arrived at the venue without the wedding procession.
Thereafter, the villagers suspected something fishy and caught hold of him.
Following this, it was found that he was a fraudster. It has also been learnt that the ornaments brought by him for the bride were also fake.
On getting the information, the Kantabanji Police arrived at the village and detained him. An investigation has been initiated into the mater.
